Mark is in his late thirties and based in Brussels. He runs a small production company and has just finished a feature film he has been trying to get off the ground for close to ten years.
He is sitting with Tom, his Production Manager, in a café near their office. Cannes is approaching, but Mark still does not have a confirmed date for the edit.
I have kept the first couple of days in Cannes fairly open because I want enough time to sit down with them properly when we finally get the meeting. I do not want another conversation on a terrace where everybody has somewhere else to be and we come away saying that we will pick it up later. We wrapped months ago, we showed them the early assembly in Berlin, and I still do not know when I am actually getting into the edit.
